The number of children being home-schooled has increased by 18% in the space of a year.
Tusla says 1,741 kids were on the register for home-education in March - compared to just over 1,500 12 months earlier.
There's also been a three-fold increase in the number of children waiting to be assessed for home-schooling.
Arthur Godsil, a former headmaster of St Andrew's College in Dublin, says the pandemic has had a big impact.
"Quite clearly the Covid situation has brought into sharper focus among parents for home schooling.
"They weren't at school, and for the first time you have parents taking a more direct interest in the education of their children, you can understand why that would have continued even after the threat of covid infections would have receded to some degree."
