Bilal Jalil lives and runs a business in the city and says 18 of his family and friends were killed by bombs close to the Afghan capital Kabul at the weekend.
His mother was taken to hospital following the attack, while his cousin lost a leg.
Bilal says he is keen for his family to be able to come to Ireland and has contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs for help.
He told RedFM News that it is very difficult being so far away from his family:
"Really, like my mind doesn't work. My brain doesn't work. I'm confused since three days. Like everyone, every one my customer asking me what happened: what happened with your face? I couldn't sleep, like, maybe one hour, two hour a night. And still I had a bad dreaming and thing."
