House prices rose at a much slower pace last year, despite a continued shortage of homes for sale.
The latest Daft.ie report shows the national price increase in 2023 was 3.4 per cent, in Dublin it was just 2 per cent while Limerick saw a 9 per cent rise.
Just 11 thousand houses were listed for sale on December 1st, 27 per cent fewer than on the same date a year earlier.
Pat Davitt, Chief Executive of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers believes we're in for more of the same in 2024:
"Probably unfortunately for many people, the prices have moved on again, and looks like they're continuing to move on and going to move on in 2024 unless something else happens in the marketplace".
