The HSE is urging parents to ensure their child is protected against measles before travelling over the Easter break.
It's been notified by the World Health Organisation of outbreaks in a number of countries, including the US, South Africa and Austria.
The Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine is given in two doses - at 12 months of age and in junior infants in school.
But the HSE's Immunisation Lead, Dr. Lucy Jessop, says many children may have missed out, due to disruption during covid.
"If your child is in junior infants hopefully you will have had a consent form now, otherwise you might be able to call the school teams - if they didn't manage to come in Junior Infants they may come in Senior Infants.
"It's important to check that your children have had those vaccines."
