Nursing unions say their members feel their goodwill has been taken for granted and they are no longer able to plug the gaps caused by unfilled posts
A series of lunchtime protests by healthcare unions, starting at CUH next Thursday, are being organised in response to the ongoing row over staffing levels
Separately nurses and midwives are to be balloted next month over the HSE's recruitment moratorium which they say is having a detrimental impact on patient care
Speaking to RedFM News Colm Porter from the INMO says while the HSE say the moratorium has finished there are still over 2,000 vacancies in the health service
"For too long, the goodwill of nurses and midwives have been taken for granted, and it's time to call a halt to that, together with our colleagues in the other trade unions and to exercise our right to say this is a step too far and and it will not be tolerated anymore"
