The 36 year old who was originally from Limerick and living in Kildorrery in north Cork died at Cork University Maternity Hospital on the 25th of March 2019, following what's believed to have been a seizure.
Marie’s son Darragh was found under her body and passed away the next day.
Legal submissions delayed the start of the hearing at the Washington Street Court House this morning and Coroner Philip Comyn adjourned the case after 2pm
Apologies were read out on behalf of the CUMH and consultant obstetrician Dr Keelin O’Donoghue.
CUMH said they were aware of the devastating impact of the death of Marie and Darragh and said they had put several steps in place to ensure the safety of patients.
Kieran Downey spoke briefly about the difficulty of the day for his family and said the family had been waiting over two and a half years for today.
The case is up for mention at the next sitting of the Coroner’s Court on September 23rd.
