A reward of $5m is being offered by US officials for information that can lead to the conviction of leading members of the Kinahan organised crime gang.
It's after the US imposed sanctions on Christy Kinahan Snr, and his two sons Daniel and Christopher Jnr - as well as four associates.
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris says this is the 'first phase' in work to tackle the gang, adding that the group 'can run but can't hide from justice forever'.
"It is true that some of the apex of the organisation is located in jurisdictions without extradition treaties to this country.
"To them I'd say you can run but you can't hide from justice forever. And from today, they will be running low on money, friends and influence."
