At least 40 people have been injured in tornadoes which have struck Germany.
Officials in the western city of Paderborn say 10 of them are seriously hurt, with strong winds blowing away roofs, toppling trees and leaving debris flying for miles.
Schools in nearby Cologne closed early yesterday, with some of those further south staying shut due to storms.
