Gaps between the EU and UK over the Northern Ireland Brexit protocol remain substantial, according to the British Government.
Britain's Brexit Minister David Frost met with EU Vice President Maros Sefcovic earlier in London.
The UK claims European proposals, to break the deadlock over the protocol, do not address changes in areas like subsidy policy, VAT and the role of the European Court of Justice.
They also do not believe they free up goods movement between Britain and Northern Ireland to the extent needed for a durable solution.
Both men will meet again in Brussels next week along with their teams of negotiators.
