Regions will be classed as "medium", "high" or "very high" alert
Most of the country will be placed on medium alert which means people can gather in groups of no more than six indoors, and pubs and restaurants must close at 10pm.
Further restrictions under high alert will mean outdoor gatherings will be restricted to six people.
Boris Johnson told the House of Commons that the very high alert tier will see pubs close.
