The Cop 26 climate summit draws to a close in Glasgow today.
The Environment Minister Eamon Ryan will be urging other countries to sign up to the 'Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance' after Ireland joined it.
The group is made up of nations committed to phasing out the production of oil and gas.
Green Party MEP Ciaran Cuffe says this Alliance shows they should no longer be used.
"We've seen the formation of the Beyond Oil and Gas Alliance, and France and Sweden have joined this new grouping, joining Denmark and some other countries.
"I think it's clear we want to move beyond gas, beyond oil, and beyond coal."
