Chichi Monroe (Gary Cantwell) from Edinburgh (originally Cork) has been shortlisted for the Positive Role Model Award - LGBT at the National Diversity Awards 2022.

72,000 people were nominated this year alone. The results of the National Diversity Awards (NDAs) have been announced and 126 nominees are being recognised for their various achievements.

Community organisations and role models from across the UK will head to the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on 16th September to witness the country's 2022 winners being crowned the Best of British diversity.

Amongst those being honoured are charities, campaigners and activists, all of whom work to combat injustice and discrimination in different ways.

Chichi Monroe (37) is from Cork but lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland.

She worked in Gran Canaria as a full-time Drag Queen for 8 years and has built a large following after working in the Sparkles Showbar and Ricky's Cabaret Bar.

Chichi has been involved in charity fundraising and strives to be a very positive, friendly and approachable figure who aims to entertain, educate and create awareness wherever possible.

She supported people who were not in a good place.

Chichi appeared on TLC's "Say Yes To The Dress - Vegas" which promoted a very lgbtq positive/equality message, and also won Gran Canaria's Glay Awards Drag Queen of the Year.

She has raised thousands for charities such as the NHS, Macmillan Cancer Support and Waverley Care; she also did HIV and AIDS charity fundraising in Ireland, Spain and the UK including a skydive.

Chichi has worked in healthcare for nearly 20 years and currently works full time as a Supported Sheltered Housing Coordinator in Edinburgh.
