EU ambassadors will meet again today to try to finalise a ban on Russian oil imports.
It was proposed by European Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen, on Wednesday, as part of a sixth round of sanctions.
It needs approval from all 27 member states - but some countries, including Hungary and Slovakia, have concerns.
It's because they're heavily reliant on Russian oil, but Fianna Fáil MEP Barry Andrews is confident of a solution:
"There is definite optimism that an agreement on the Commission proposal can be arrived at over this weekend. And I think they're working through the weekend because they want to get this finalised. Monday is Victory Day in Russia. And the last thing the European Union wants to do is to hand any kind of propaganda victory to President Putin, such as disagreement in the EU on this latest sanctions package".
