The European Commission says it hopes progress can be made in resolving issues around the Northern Ireland protocol in new talks.
Intensive discussions are planned for next week between British and EU officials.
It follows the first face to face meeting between Britain's Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and the EU's Chief Brexit Negotiator Maros Sefcovic.
They will meet again on January 24th.
EU Commission Spokesperson Daniel Ferrie says the EU has made it's position clear on the protocol:
"You have a timetable now ahead of us, where we hope to make progress. I think our position is well known. We continue to work for stability and predictability in Northern Ireland. You know that we came forward in October with a number of far reaching measures to help implementation of the protocol. So stay tuned for more updates in that regard."
