Fine Gael's spokesperson on European Affairs says some progress has been made on the Northern Ireland protocol.
Neale Richmond says the European Commission showed flexibility in the last few weeks on extending grace periods.
However, he believes the British Government needs to reciprocate with not just flexibility, but commitment to implementing the protocol.
Deputy Richmond says the differences around the protocol can be resolve:
"Ultimately the key to resolving any problems and removing 85% of the checks required by the protocol is for the EU and the UK to agree a veterinary agreement, similar to what the EU has in Switzerland. That's in everybody's interest, and we very much hope we can see progress on that."
