Former British prime minister Boris Johnson is stepping down as a Conservative MP with immediate effect.
In a lengthy statement, he's hit out at Britain's Commons Privileges Committee, which is investigating his comments about Downing Street lockdown parties.
He claims the inquiry is a kangaroo court and hasn't found a shred of evidence that he misled the Commons.
Former Conservative MP Anna Soubry disagrees:
"This Privileges Committee has a Conservative majority. It includes people arch-Conservatives like Sir Bernard Jenkin - the idea that this some sort of stitch up is for the birds".
