Forecasters say Europe's hottest summer on record wouldn't have happened without human-induced climate change.
A new European record was set in Sicily - where it got to 48.8 degrees Celsius.
The UK Met Office says without climate change, a record would only be hit once in 10-thousand years.
Speaking at the Cop26 climate summit, spokesperson Professor Peter Stott says it cannot continue."
Now is the time that action really needs to start to bite.
"What we've seen over the last two years since the last time governments gathered together to discuss climate change, we've seen so many of these devastating heatwaves, floods and droughts around the world."
