There's been an increase of 4.5 per cent in the number of children sleeping rough.
New Department of Housing figures show 9,150 adults and kids were homeless in the last week of January.
Penny Dinners says they are seeing more people consistently struggling with the cost of living.
The charity says more people are seeking help with food poverty with over 700 meals given out on a recent Sunday- almost twice the usual amount for the day.
A recent report from Barnardo's found that 22% of parents often worry about not being able to provide food for their children while nearly three in ten people have witnesses child food poverty first-hand
Speaking to RedFM News, Caitriona Twomey from Cork Penny Dinners says some families simply can't cope with the current cost of living:
"Like, for some families now they have, it's like a solid struggle for them. It's not just struggling, because this week is a tough week. They're struggling this week and they'll be struggling next week and the week after, because the cost of living is really out of control here."
