Irish citizens urged to leave Lebanon as tensions escalate

Tánaiste Micheál Martin is reminding the public that the Department of Foreign Affairs is advising against all travel to Lebanon and has urged Irish citizens to leave the country by commercial means.

He also warns that if the security situation deteriorates, authorities here may be limited in the assistance they can provide.

Tensions are continuing to escalate on the border between Lebanon and Israel.

An airstrike on the Israeli occupied Golan Heights over the weekend killed 12 children.

Officials in Israel claim the weapon was launched by Hezbollah, but the Iran-backed militant group denies they are to blame.
