British prime minister Liz Truss and EU Commission president Ursula Von der Leyen are understood to be arranging a meeting.
It's being organised for next week, while both are in New York for the UN General Assembly.
They're expected to discuss the Northern Ireland Protocol, which is the root of the power-sharing collapse at the Stormont Assembly.
