The war in Ukraine could be a catalyst for change in how we use fossil fuels according to former President Mary Robinson.
A major UN report yesterday warned that cutting emissions is no longer enough to save the planet from the effects of climate change and Governments must act 'now or never'.
The former President and Chair of the Elders Mrs.Robinson says that while obviously the war in Ukraine is terrible and we are seeing 'shocking and awful' images, the opportunity to move away from Russian oil and gas, must be seized.
"Pivot in the short term, so that people don't have no energy, which we can't live without.
"The plan shouldn't be then to open new North Sea oil fields like Campo, fracking, or any other solutions like that.
"We will pivot much more quickly to clean energy."
