More rockets have hit Kharkiv in Ukraine, not far from the Russian border in the east. The interior ministry says dozens of people have been killed.
Talks between Ukrainian and Russian officials continue on the border with Belarus.
Kiev wants a ceasefire, and the French President reiterated that to Russia's Vladimir Putin in a phone call earlier.
Crisis talks are also underway in New York where representatives from around the world are meeting at an emergency session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Ukraine's UN Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya had this to say; "
"It reminds you of something doesn't it indeed very clear parallels could be drawn with the beginning of the Second World War."
