In the UK, neonatal nurse Lucy Letby has refused to appear in the dock at Manchester Crown Court to be sentenced.
That means she will not hear any of the victim impact statements from families of the seven babies she was found guilty of murdering, and the six others she tried to kill.
The mother of one of them, known as child A, has said Letby thought it was her right to play God.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says the Government there wants to make criminals face-up to their crimes:
"I think it's cowardly that people who commit such horrendous crimes, do not face the victims and hear first-hand the impact that their crimes have had on them and their families."
