A new law has been introduced in Colombia that gives workers two days leave to mourn when their pet dies.

An estimated 60 percent of households in the country have at least one pet.

Under Colombian law, a pet is defined as an animal the owner shares a "strong sentimental bond" with.

The death of an exotic animal such as a tiger is not permitted under the legislation.
