Residents of Dublin's Orwell Road, where the Russian Embassy is located, are to be asked their views on a proposal to change the name of the street to 'Independent Ukraine Road'.
A sub-committee of Dun Laoghaire - Rathdown Country Council voted unanimously in favour of the name change proposal.
The motion was proposed by Labour councillor Peter O'Brien, who says he was inspired by countries including Latvia, Lithuania, Albania and Norway, who've all changed the names of the streets housing Russian embassies to associate them with Ukraine.
It's now up to the local council to hold a plebiscite of local residents.
