The President of Ukraine says there are signs Russian troops are withdrawing from northern areas.
But Volodymyr Zelenskyy says his people should wait until mines and trip wires have been cleared before they try to return to their normal lives.
Fresh attempts to rescue stranded civilians in the besieged city of Mariupol will be made today.
Meanwhile the Kremlin has accused Kyiv of launching a helicopter attack on a fuel depot on Russian soil - which the Ukrainians deny.
Andriy Sadovyi, the Mayor of the western city of Lviv has this message for Western allies:
"I think democratic countries must totally head off Russia. Russia: it is today Nazi country. Money or freedom. You must make choice".
