The Taoiseach says he's more hopeful than he was this time last year that meaningful action can be taken to stop climate change.
Micheál Martin will address Cop26 in Glasgow this afternoon to set out Ireland's plans.
He's expected to commit to a significant increase in overseas aid for climate mitigation efforts.
The Taoiseach says there's a different mood around this summit to previous ones.
"I'm more hopeful now than I would have been 12 months ago.
"As I said yesterday, the United States coming on board is very significant.
"Speaking to people who have been at previous COPs, they're saying they feel there's a different mood around this one as opposed to previous ones in terms of commitment and engagement with the issue."
