The Taoiseach Micheál Martin is to deliver Ireland’s National Statement to the COP26 summit in Glasgow later today.
Mr.Martin will be setting out how Ireland has been contributing to achieving goals set out in the Paris Agreement, including limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.
Yesterday The Taoiseach says it isn't economically sustainable for Ireland not to act on climate change.
Sadhbh O'Neill, lecturer in Climate Policy at Dublin City University says she has some concerns ahead of today's speech.
"I'm a little bit concerned about the Taoiseach's interview.
"When he said that Ireland was going to sign up to the 30% methane target negotiated between the EU and the United States that that didn't somehow apply to Ireland.
"It feels like we're back to square one, where Ireland is going out into these international meetings, signing up to targets with no intention of meeting them."
