The Taoiseach will address the European Parliament this morning.
His address will mark 50 years since Ireland decided to join the then European Community.
It comes following an appeal to Boris Johnson to pull back from acting unilaterally over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Michael Martin renewed pressure on the British Government last night to engage in talks aimed at breaking the deadlock around the Protocol
Fine Gael MEP Frances Fitzgerald says she expects the Taoiseach will use to address to press for Ukraine to become a member of the EU.
"They [Ukraine] are defending our values, they're defending democratic values.
"I think we have to do whatever we can to accelerate their engagement with the EU, and to give them the hope and the process to become more involved with the EU.
"I believe the Taoiseach will address that issue - he's been very strong on that."
