The EU has announced a further range of 'massive sanctions' against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine.

They target its financial, energy, transport and technology sectors - as well as limiting the country's access to European visas.

It followed an emergency European Council summit in Brussels last night, which was attended by the Taoiseach.

An ambitious plan to radically reduce hospital waiting lists will be launched this morning.

The 2022 Waiting List Action Plan will be unveiled by Health Minister Stephen Donnelly and senior health officials.

Over 700,000 people are waiting for an inpatient or outpatient procedure - with over 166,000 waiting over 18 months.

A lawyer is still being questioned by gardai in relation to death of a man in a shooting in Dublin earlier this week.

35-year-old Keith Conlon was pronounced dead in Tallaght Hospital yesterday, after being on life-support for about 48 hours.

The father-of-four was shot in the head on Tuesday afternoon, after an alleged row over a dog while hunting near Tallaght.

Three former police officers have been convicted of violating George Floyd's civil rights.

The 46-year-old black man was killed when officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into Mr. Floyd's neck for nine-and-a-half minutes in May 2020.

Tou Thao, J Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane were charged with depriving the man of his right to medical care.
