The Government will begin a series of meetings with stakeholder groups today to discuss Budget 2023.

The meetings come ahead of the publication of the Summer Economic Statement and as pressure continues on the coalition to announce further supports to help with the cost of living ahead of Octobers Budget.

The Taoiseach yesterday denied news paper claims there'll be a a Christmas style social welfare payment in July.

Social Justice Ireland says the Government must ensure it doesn't do harm to low-income households in the Budget.

It'll be addressing the National Economic Dialogue at Dublin Castle this morning, calling for an increase in social welfare rates by 20 euro a week.

It says if the Government gets its choices wrong in tackling the cost of living crisis the least well-off's already precarious situation will worsen.

The pandemic has caused poorer mental health among young adults.

New ESRI research shows four-in-ten 22 year-old men and over half of women the same age were classified as depressed during Covid 19.

This years Leaving Cert results are likely to be released in late August.

Delays have been caused by a second sitting of exams for students with Covid, a pledge to ensure grades are no lower than last year, and a shortage of examiners.
