The crew of a vessel, fishing off the Cork coast, had a lucky escape yesterday morning as they were forced to abandon their trawler when it began taking on water

The fishing vessel with a crew of 11 on board was fishing 60 miles south west off the Mizen Head when it got into difficulty

The crew raised the alarm and emergency services including a rescue helicopter, a naval vessel and an Air Corps maritime patrol aircraft responded to the scene - they were safely picked up by another fishing vessel and taken to Castletownbere

All District Court cases in the city were adjourned yesterday following a High Court ruling on Tuesday.

The Irish Examiner reports the issue, which is expected to result in cases being adjourned for a number of days, arose when the High Court ruled that the only parties entitled to prosecute a case are the Garda who brought the charge against the accused person, or a barrister or solicitor representing the DPP.
