Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Co. Kerry in which a man was killed.

The 37 year old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene in the townland of Strands End, in Caherciveen,

The collision occurred shortly before 5 yesterday evening.

The funeral will take place later this morning of Dillon Quirke after he collapsed whilst playing for his club in a county hurling championship match at Semple Stadium in Tipperary last Friday evening.

He took ill late in the first half of their game with Kilruane MacDonaghs and quickly received medical attention on the pitch before being transferred to Tipperary University Hospital by ambulance where he passed away.

Cork City Council has collected over €234,000 in derelict site levies in the first six months of the year.

In a statement to RedFM News, the Council says they have a higher than average collection rate for derelict site levies and is actively reviewing all options to improve collection rates.

As temperatures are set to rise in the coming days pet owners are being urged not to travel with their pets in the car.

Met Éireann has said that overnight temperatures from this Thursday will reach "uncomfortably warm" levels, with daytime temperatures above 25C from Wednesday for up to five days.
