Cork City Councillors have defeated a motion calling on the government to hold an emergency budget.
It follows a cost of living protest held outside City Hall yesterday evening.
10 voted against Sinn Fein's motion, 9 for and there were three abstentions.

The Government is expected to survive a motion of no confidence this evening.
The Sinn Féin motion comes as the coalition lost its technical majority last week.

Housing charity Threshold has broadly welcomed the government's plans to address the current shortage in long-term rental properties.
Under the proposal, entire properties, in Rent Pressure Zones, would not be allowed to be advertised on websites like Air BnB without commercial planning permission.

Anti-abortion protests will no longer be permitted outside hospitals and clinics who provide termination services.
It's after the Health Minister finalised plans for a bill which would see the establishment of 'safe access zones'.
