Downing Street is attempting a legal fightback against a Commons investigation in Britain into whether Boris Johnson misled Parliament over partygate.
Cross-bench peer Lord Pannick has provided the British government with legal opinion and suggested the Privileges Committee's inquiry is "unfair" and "flawed", and would be regarded as "unlawful" by a court.
UK Labour's Chris Bryant, who chairs that committee, has called the advice "wrong on several counts", adding it amounts to "disgraceful bullying".
