Ukraine's president says his country has reached a "strategic turning point" in Russia's invasion and insists he will win the war.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy's also accused Russia of deploying Syrian mercenaries into Ukraine, after Vladimir Putin invited thousands across the Middle East to volunteer and fight for him.
A huge convoy of Russian military vehicles is now understood to be less than 10 miles from the capital and for the first time, bombs fell on the western city of Lutsk.
Mariupol's Deputy Mayor Sergei Orlov says they need to be able to protect themselves from airstrikes:
"All should know that we unfortunately do not have any weapons to protect our lives of airborne airstrikes, so we told a lot of people about it to give us some weapons to give us a possibility to protect the lives of our children."
