Worldwide cases now over 10 million

The US Vice President's urging people to take precautions - as a quarter of all coronavirus deaths worldwide have been reported in America.

Figures from the John Hopkins University show more than half a million people globally have died from Covid-19.

The total number of confirmed cases around the world now stands at 10 million.

Mike Pence - who's cancelled campaign events - says face coverings are vital.

"If your local officials in consultation with the state are directing you wearer a mask, we encourage everyone to wear a mask in the affected areas.

"And where you can't maintain social distancing, wearing a mask is just a good idea."
