The number of cases of coronavirus across the world is expected to reach 2,000,000 later today.
The total is now just 200 short of that mark, while there are nearly 127,000 deaths.
Nearly a third of all the cases are in the US, which also has the highest number of deaths.
World Health Organisation director general Tedros Ghebreyesus says the virus is taking a heavy toll on society.
"Evidence from several countries is giving a clear picture of this virus, how it behaves, how to stop it.
"We know that Covid-19 spreads fast, and we know that it's deadly, ten times deadlier than the 2009 flu pandemic.
"The virus can spread more easily in crowded environments, like nursing homes."
