Deputy Lord Mayor Mick Finn walked out of the chamber following the Russian response to a contribution by the Mayor of Kharkivwho spoke about how the Ukrainian city had been destroyed by bombing.
Russia contested the images presented at the gathering and claimed it was not the aggressor.
Cllr Finn told the gathered mayors about the aid convoys that have left Cork in recent weeks and said that Cork and Ireland have opened their hearts, homes and pockets to help Ukraine.
