Yasser Eljuboori's legal team was informed of the change of plan by a Baghdad court yesterday.
Yasser Eljuboori was detained by Iraqi authorities last week at Baghdad airport, following a visit to his family.
He first appeared in court on Tuesday 27th February when he was informed that the Prime Minister had filed charges against him concerning his social media posts which raised corruption concerns.
At separate a court hearing on Thursday, Mr Eljuboori had been assured that all charges had been dropped and there would be “two to three days of paperwork” to complete before he would be allowed to return home to his family in Dublin.
When he appeared at court yesterday to collect his belongings and passport, Mr Eljuboori learned of two new charges brought against him and has now been prevented from leaving Iraq.
He'll appear in court again tomorrow morning, where he'll be seeking dismissal of the new charges and return of his belongings to enable him to fly home tomorrow.
