The Irish College of General Practitioners says the lack of people getting vaccinated is impacting out of hours services in Cork.
It comes as there was a surge in people presenting with flu and Covid related illnesses to Emergency Departments and SouthDoc over the Christmas period.
SouthDoc saw 10,000 patients across Cork and Kerry between the 23rd of December and the 1st of January.
Speaking to RedFM News, Dr. Scott Walkin of the Irish College of General Practitioners says if more people were vaccinated, there would be less pressure on out of hours services:
"That reduces the workload. And it means that the Emergency Department staff have more capacity to look after people with other injuries. If more people were vaccinated, there would be less pressure on out of hours services"
