The Irish Navy is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
The organisation, which patrols Irish waters, is marking the milestone at Dun Laoghaire and Dublin Ports this morning.
850 people serve in the Navy with 63 women among them.
Lieutenant commander Mike Brunicardi who is from Fermoy was one of those who intercepted 300 million euro worth of cocaine off the West Cork coast in 2014.
"We made a plan, we had to go and find the yacht that was coming across the Atlantic.
"We surveyed him for 48 hours before we actually moved in to interdict him, and then we got on board.
"It was fairly straight forward - while it was hairy - it was fairly straightforward in the fact that the cocaine was everywhere."
