Two political parties have called for a temporary wealth tax to pay for pandemic bonuses for frontline workers.
Labour and Solidarity - People Before Profit say those who benefited financially during the pandemic should pay for supports to those who risked their lives.
Minister Michael McGrath has said he'll be sitting down with unions in the coming weeks to agree a bonus.
Labour Senator Marie Sherlock says we should look to suggestions in the UK on how to pay for it.
"The proposals in the UK looked at couples with a certain wealth over a certain threshold, and that there should be a once off tax on those couples over a period of time to try and pay for the pandemic related costs."
