A Cork support service for victims of crime is to close after 17 years due to a lack of funding
Sally Hanlon who is the founder of Support After Crime says she's devastated that the service will have to shut it's doors at the end of January
The service needs €155,000 in annual funding and for the past 16 years has been funded by the Department of Justice
The Department raised governance issues which the service complied with but despite this the funding was pulled
Speaking to RedFM News Sally Hanlon says she's just had to accept that the service will be wound up despite her best efforts to save it
"This is going on for a year and we have tried everything. Now we didn't go and look for funding from any other source. But I think that we had to accept a wind up, because there was no funding. I had hoped that this would not break until after Christmas, so as at least the people that are using our service would have the peace of mind for Christmas"
