The lack of housing options across Cork are leading to people in domestic abuse situations delaying their decision to leave.

OSS Cork says they are at "absolute capacity" this month as they help people safely navigate their way through an unsafe domestic environment.

The support service is urging anyone in that situation to make an informed decision and not to voluntarily give up the right to their home.

Speaking to RedFM News Deborah O’Flynn, manager of OSS Cork says the inability to move out of the family home is creating blocks for people:

"People who own their own homes are reluctant to give up what they've invested in the property. We're seeing an increase in mortgages and interest rates and all sorts of other outside pressures pouring in on top of already delicate situations."
