Residents at Lios Cara are blocking access to the estate for a second day in a bid to get the developer of 44 homes under construction to engage with them.
A large crowd gathered at the entrance early this morning to stop builders entering the estate after they learned that all the homes will become social housing.
Residents in high vis vests are blockading the entrance to the estate again today after bringing construction to a halt yesterday.
Around 60 residents blocked builders from entering the site where 44 homes are in various stages of construction, with nine safety barriers across the entrance.
The protesters say residents at Lios Cara are overwhelming in their support of the protest, which they say will continue until the developer engages with them in a meaningful way.
Members of the blockade team told RedFM News yesterday that they are aware that the country is in a housing crisis and say they want the homes to be a mix of social, affordable, and private housing.
