The British government is on the brink of collapse after another extraordinary day at Westminster.

British prime minister Liz Truss lost her home secretary - who stepped down after admitting breaking the ministerial code.

But in her resignation letter Suella Braverman said the business of government relies on people accepting responsibility for mistakes.

That's after the Liz Truss, this week, admitted making errors.

Ministers have also denied claims from Labour's Chris Bryant that Conservative MPs were "manhandled" into voting with the government last night.

"There was a group including several cabinet members who were basically shouting at them.

"At least one member was physically pulled through the door into the voting lobby."

A former UK Conservative MP says he's struggling to recognise the party he was once a member of.

Matthew Parris says there are some 'good people' left in it, but it's a shell of its former self.

"We know Jeremy Hunt to be a reasonable, centrist, grown up sort of person.

"However quite a few of them were expelled by Theresa May and Boris Johnson, people like Ken Clarke and Dominic Grieves.

"There were a lot of good people in the party, slowly they're drifting away and suddenly what's left, the residue, is looking weirder and weirder."
