The city's Lord Mayor says Cork's new Solace Café will help to save lives
The café is a HSE funded out of hours support service for those experiencing mental health difficulties
The centre is the first of five planned cafés in the country
Speaking to RedFM News Lord Mayor Cllr Kieran McCarthy says the Cork facility will be used as a learning site before the national roll out.
"We're a test bed as such, that some of the ideas that I suppose the HSE sub committee who were working on these cafes, they can't just roll them out without testing them, so Cork is going to be that testbed. We're lucky in Cork that the Cork Mental Health Foundation building on Sullivan's Quay will have the Solacé Cafe as part of that, so that kind of a walk in service with the HSE"
