The M20 motorway between Cork and Limerick must be completed "as soon as is humanly possible".
That's according to Cork North-West TD Michael Moynihan.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland published an update on the project today, in which it proposed cutting the width of the new road by more than half.
Reducing the motorway from 500 metres wide to 200 metres would provide extra space for active travel like walking and cycling, as well as room for Electric Vehicle chargers.
Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy Michael Moynihan says the project has been an idea for too long:
"This critical piece of infrastructure was first talked about 25 years ago, in 1998 to link Limerick and car towns like Buttevant and Charleville and Mallow and allow them to grow. The most important thing I can see is that the momentum be kept going and that this project is brought to fruition as soon as is humanly possible".
