A man accused of walking his dog along a road while naked and carrying a knife has appeared at Cork District Court.
The alleged incident happened on the Old Mallow Road in Cork after 4pm on the 9th of April last.
A member of the public contacted Gardaí to say they had spotted a naked man carrying a knife while walking his dog.
Gardaí went to the scene and spoke to 65-year-old Eric Fitzgerald of Shaw’s Bridge, Rathpeacon, Cork who Sgt Aisling Murphy said was carrying a knife with a 30cm blade.
The court heard Fitzgerald continued to walk along the road and entered his house, coming out again minutes later wearing clothes.
Defence solicitor Joseph Cuddigan said the only charge against his client involved possession of a knife.
The matter is due before the court again on the 2nd of October.
